Donation seekers appreciate Christmas generosity

Kokanee Brass extends its appreciation to all who donated to the Creston Ministerial Association food hampers and the Creston food bank during their performance in front of Overwaitea Foods on Dec. 24, and to Overwaitea manager Char Stunder for graciously welcoming them to play their tuba Christmas among the Christmas trees in front of the store.

“The money collected was divided equally to the Creston Ministerial Association and the Creston food bank,” said Laura From. “We are thrilled to announce that a total of $244.26 was raised. We were very impressed when a fellow ceremoniously dumped in $50 of toonies!”

“Creston folks are amazing,” said Linda Steward, Creston co-ordinator for the Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy, acknowledging donations to the Book Under Every Tree campaign at Christmas — over 600 beautiful children’s books and 350 adult ones.

Every child whose family got a Christmas hamper got at least two books and all the adults are now enjoying a book that they picked themselves from the collection.

“We are so appreciative of your generosity in giving the gift of reading,” said Steward.
