do over the two week break from classes. From ice-skating to viewing
over-the-top Christmas decorations, this winter break won’t be one you”ll
easily forget.

 Zilker
Holiday Tree

   Though 2011 proves to be another year sans
The Trail of Lights, this 155-foot tall tree will be sure to draw crowds this
holiday season. The tree will be lit from 6 p.m. to 12 p.m., Dec. 4 through 31
in Zilker Park.

Whole Foods Ice
Skating

   On the top story of Whole Foods in downtown
Austin, located at Sixth and Lamar streets,  an ice rink gets set up every winter to bring
some fun to the grocery shopping experience.

37th Street

     This residential neighborhood goes all out
with lavish decorations on each house. The block has transformed into a
brightly lit tourist attraction for over twenty years, attracting thousands of
visitors as well as magazine and TV publicity. To first time visitors: be
prepared to be a little blinded. Best of all, this wonder doesn’t cost a penny
to see.

Christmas Bazaar

   The Palmer Events center hosts the 36th
annual arts and crafts fair featuring local artists and plenty of talent. The
event will last from Dec. 14 through 24, giving attendees a creative way to
find Christmas gifts. Featured pieces include handmade gifts and elaborate
artwork.

IHop Holiday
Pancakes

   Stop by an iHop to try one of
four seasonal themed pancakes. The eggnog and the white chocolate chip mint
pancakes featuring peppermint flakes can get even a Grinch to embrace the
winter season.

Show

Tacky Sweater
Party

    Dec.
16 the cast of the Bobby Bones Show on radio FM 96.7 will host their annual
Christmas concert at the Moody Theater. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Gym Class
Heroes play at 8. Visit 967kissfm.com to buy tickets. Come dressed in the
tackiest sweater you can find.

Mozarts’ Hot
Chocolate

This quirky
coffee house on the lake boasts some of the best pastries and hot chocolate in
Austin. Stop by over the holiday season to watch a musical lightshow on the
